Landlords define their perfect tenant

Posted under General by Alan

The UK landlords have revealed portrait of a perfect tenant to Halifax Land Insurance which surveyed 1,000 landlords to identify characteristics of their most desirable tenant.

According to Halifax survey, landlords would like to let their property, without reservations, to a tenant which is a female, aged between 36 and 45, practicing medical profession and living in London. This is the portrait of their desired tenant.

77% of respondents preferred female occupants, while 25% believed that Londoners made the perfect tenants.

It was surprising to learn that expectations about ideal income of a tenant were not very high; only 32% of landlords favoured a tenant drawing salary between £20,000 and £30,000.

Profession wise general practitioners topped the poll (24%), while only 9% of respondents preferred nurses or carer as their tenants.

People least acceptable as tenants included HGV drivers (19%), traffic wardens (15%); taxi drivers (15%) and shop workers (10%).

67% of landlords felt that it was not worth renting their homes to youths aged 25 and under. They valued matured people as tenants.

Landlords also appeared quite apprehensive and suspicious about letting their properties to celebrities. They seemed to find no place in the list of landlords’ ideal tenants.
