LaSalle lists UK most attractive area for investment

Posted under General by Alan

The annual strategy review by LaSalle Investment Management, the global property fund manager, declared the UK commercial property market as the best value place in the world.

LaSalle, which manages about £34.7bn ($52bn) of assets, is telling its clients that the UK property market has fallen hardest and become one of the most attractive countries for investment. LaSalle’s report provides a positive ending to one of the worst years for the sector. Although there are chances of further price falls, the fund manager believes that a stage has been reached where prices are offering good rates of return to investors compared with rates of long-term bonds.

LaSalle will recommend its clients to be defensive in their strategy until 2011; to be more focussed on asset management for a steady flow of income rather than expanding by acquisition. It considers that years 2009 and 2010 would be great for aggressive strategy because those with an eye for good value and equity would be having many attractive deals to choose from. LaSalle is also recommending Korea, Australia and Germany for investment.

Outside the UK, LaSalle is expecting lower return on investment across Europe and is suggesting an investment ratio which is heavily weighted to retail.
